Ruth Langsford opens up about the latest bullying and abuse accusations from Strictly Come Dancing, tearfully admitting, ‘I never stopped crying during rehearsals with Anton Du Beke.’

Ruth Langsford has broken her silence over the latest bullying and abuse claims on Strictly Come Dancing as she shared her experience with former pro partner Anton Du Beke

Loose Women wasn’t short of drama when Ruth Langsford made a triumphant return to the show, and she had plenty to say about the recent Strictly Come Dancing controversy.

Fans of the sparkle-filled show know that accusations of “bullying” and abuse are hanging over the BBC program, initially sparked by Amanda Abbington’s bombshell claims.

The actress claimed that she was dealt with in an “unnecessarily cruel” manner by her then dance partner Giovanni Pernice, allegations which the Italian dance pro has adamantly dismissed.

In 2017, after persistent nudges, Ruth finally appeared on the ballroom floor, dancing with Anton Du Beke, whom she praised as the best partner she could have asked for.

Being a former participant herself, Ruth took the chance to spill about her own journey – which wasn’t devoid of an emotional rollercoaster ride, reports the Manchester Evening News.

According to the panelist, who just took her seat back at ITV after taking a brief respite following her split from Eamonn Holmes, the journey got quite heart-tugging at certain instances.

Coming to Anton’s defence, Ruth cleared out that any upset during their journey was in no way triggered by him. She explained: “I can only speak for my own experience and I had a wonderful time on Strictly and had the best partner in Anton Du Beke. Never-ever a crossed word.”

“He raised an eye-brow occasionally and I would burst into tears and he’d take me for a cup of tea, so I had a wonderful time.”

More recently, there have been complaints that there aren’t enough cameras backstage and during training to capture everything that happens off-air.

Rumours are swirling that the broadcasting behemoth might consider bringing in chaperones to oversee training sessions with the show’s celebrities and their dance partners.

Despite her own positive stint on the show, Ruth Langsford shared why she can’t speak for others’ experiences. The beloved TV presenter told the panel: “You don’t really see the other contestants because you’re in your own personal room.”

“You only really meet up once on like a Friday and then you do the show on Saturday.”

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV from 12:30pm.
