Jennifer Garner has completely ignored her ex-husband Ben Affeck’s divorce from Jennifer Lopez as they spent the day together.
The actress was seen with Ben after J-Lo filed for divorce on their second wedding anniversary.
The former couple tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, having rekindled their relationship almost 20 years after calling off their first engagement.
However, the singer, 55, filed the papers on Tuesday – exactly two years on from their lavish wedding ceremony held a month after their Vegas trip.
Garner, 52, was married to Ben from 2005 until 2018 and they share three children. When news of J-Lo and Ben’s divorce broke, Jennifer appeared to stay out of the drama as she gave updates to fans on social media. She appeared a world away from the bombshell announcement as she posted clips from home.
Jennifer promoted her new children’s book and then headed out into her garden to pick peaches. She filmed herself filling up a wooden basket and commented: “Peaches from the garden.” Hours later, the actress returned to Instagram to re-share Ryan Reynold’s behind-the-scenes snap with her and then again to post a video about an ‘underwater forest’.
A source previously spilled to PEOPLE that J-Lo decided to file for divorce as she realises it’s time to “move on”, despite feeling very “sad” about the end of her marriage. The insider added: “[She knows] it’s time to move on for various reasons… She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage. He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”
Ben started dating Garner in 2004 and the pair tied the knot in Turks and Caicos in June 2005. After their 10th wedding anniversary, they announced their separation. Ben looked happier than ever this week when he was reunited with his ex-wife, Jennifer in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning – the same day J-Lo filed divorce papers.
The divorce papers were filed exactly two years post their lavish second celebration on August 20, 2022, yet their official separation date is listed as April 26, 2024, in the divorce documents. In photos with ex-wife Jennifer, Ben looked much more cheerful than he has in recent times as he returned to the West Coast after dropping off his eldest daughter, Violet, to college in Connecticut. Ben notably chose not to wear his wedding ring and the Oscar-winner appeared relaxed and upbeat alongside actress Jennifer.
There is no suggestion that the pair are rekindling their romance, particularly as Jennifer is happy in a relationship with her long-term boyfriend, tech CEO John Miller. In February 2020, Ben said the “biggest regret” of his life was their divorce. He told The New York Times: “Shame is really toxic. There is no positive byproduct of shame. It’s just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing.”
