A ‘tense clash erupted’ between William and King Charles after the Prince of Wales ‘ignored’ the late Queen’s concerns

Prince William “irritated” his grandmother after ignoring her “concerns” over the safety of the Royal Family flying in a helicopter, a royal author has said.

Robert Jobson told GB News’ Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker and GBNews.com’s Royal Editor Svar Nanan-Sen that both the late Queen Elizabeth and King Charles had “raised concerns” about William’s helicopter use.

William is said to have continued to fly Princess Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in a helicopter after Queen Elizabeth had shared her worries.

He was asked to sign a disclaimer by King Charles after a “tense clash” erupted between the two.

In this week’s episode of The Royal Record podcast, Jobson said that despite the Prince of Wales being a “very skilled pilot”, William was presented with “a formal document acknowledging the risks involved and taking full responsibility for his actions”.

Jobson said: “William is this accomplished and very skilled pilot, but he was flying quite regularly from Kensington Palace up to Anmer Hall to take the children up there, and that’s all the family Catherine and George, Charlotte and Louis.

“And the Queen did raise with him, well I have it on authority that she did, and he still did it – he still flew out.

“And I think that quite peeved her, irritated her a little bit as she had raised it. And now, since the King’s diagnosis, I think he raised a similar point with William via one of his aides.

“I know which aid, I won’t bring them into it, and it led to a bit of a confrontation between the aide and William, which wasn’t right.

“But basically the issue was raised because the King is saying if something happens, and he’s not in any way doubting William’s ability as a helicopter pilot is he’s a trained pilot himself, but he realised that there’s dangers involved in everything.

“And by having them all flown together in a helicopter, I think was seen as not really acceptable.”

It is understood that the Palace has fully evaluated the risk of the family flying together.

However, the royal commentator claims that Charles asked his son to sign a document to acknowledge “responsibility” if anything happened to the line of succession.

Jobson explained that it would be “King Harry and Queen Meghan on the throne” if anything happened to the Waleses.

He said: “He asked William to sign a disclaimer saying that if anything happened, it had already been raised.

“Now, you might ask, what’s the point of that? Well, what it would do if you had to sign a document, is really focus your attention on what you’re doing.

“I don’t think it would stop someone doing it, but it’s saying it’s definitely your responsibility.

“And as a future king himself, you’ve got to look at the line of succession, and the line of succession would mean that it would be King Harry and Queen Meghan on the throne.

“It’s something that the King is asking William to consider.”
